| REGULAR LINKS Sort by: PageRank | Hits| Alphabetical | Lake Function Specific Design™ is more than just a catchphrase. Your footwear needs as a cyclist are dependent upon the type of riding you do, the equipment you use, your gender, how hard you ride & the environment you ride in. At Lake®, we take all those factors into account before we start to design your shoes. Every component of our products, from laces to stitching to rubber compound, is rigorously tested in our factory test lab. Our products face conditions that are nearly impossible for the average cyclist to encounter: We freeze them, heat them, bend them & destroy them so that you get your money?s worth. Read on to see how Function Specific Design creates our products.
Lasts Function Specific Design™ starts with the actual foot form (Last) around which a shoe is built to determine the shoe's particular use. Instead of just trying to make one or two foot shapes fit every rider, we created 15 different lasts to meet the needs of just about everyone. Women's Lasts All of our women?s lasts are designed to meet the anatomical requirements of a woman's foot: reduced overall volume, narrower heel, & a higher instep than a typical men's last. Wide Lasts Several of our lasts are also designed in a US EE width.

| | Carnac Founded in 1949, Carnac quickly became a leader in international cycling. Carnac filed a series of patents that were the epitome of quality, technology and innovation.
1985 – This was the year quick release pedals for bicycles were invented. Carnac went to work and made the first rigid polyamide sole with integrated nuts for direct attachment.
1989 – In reply to the diversification of the quick release pedal systems, Carnac designed and patented its famous UCS (Universal Carnac System) based on interchangeable inserts. This system is used around the world and guarantees compatibility with all existing pedal systems.
1996 – Carnac released the evolution of the UCS, integrating the Venturi system for optimal aeration of the insides of shoes. This was the first time that the Venturi aeration system was applied to shoes.
1999- This is the year a new advanced technology appeared; the MPS sole (Multi-Pedal System) was an evolution of the UCS system that united performance and comfort without requiring inserts.
2001- Carnac Sport was the first producer to use an interchangeable bar for modulating the rigidity of the sole.
2004- Continuing its search for innovation, Carnac developed a variable thickness carbon sole (MFC5) that benefits from the advantages of carbon without compromising foot comfort.
2006- To meet customer expectations, Carnac invented Ergo Sole, which gives comfort and optimum grip on the pedal while pedalling thanks to the introduction of stabilizers and arch supports in the sole.
2009- Carnac took on a new challenge with its Tailor Made Program that allows cyclists to purchase a completely customized and personalized shoe, from its shape to its colour. As it continues to look for new opportunities, Carnac now revolutionizes the MTB and bicycle touring markets with its Duo Sole that transforms a MTB sole into a bicycle touring sole by simply replacing the cleats.
Today, more than ever, Carnac is ready to take on the challenges of the future.

| | D2 Custom means many things to many people.
Custom can mean anything from simply custom colors to making shoes to the exact dimensions of your feet and more. This is why we offer many variations of Custom. Most people don't need a full custom shoe. So why should they pay for it?
The first level of Custom is our "Best Fit Option". At this level we will select the best fitting last for each of your feet based on the Fit Kit. About 99% of our customers fall into this category. With 42 sizes and 9 widths, not many people need to go “Full Custom”
At the second level we will select the best fitting last for each of your feet then apply temporary modifications to the lasts. We can fit bunions, bone spurs or an unusual toe line.
At the third level of Custom; shoe lasts are made to the exact dimensions of your feet. Some pattern modification may be needed. Not many people need this; but if you do we can handle it.
The final level of Custom includes custom last and custom patterns due to a very unusually shaped foot.
No matter what Custom means to you; D2 has you covered.

| | Rocket7 Since 1999, Rocket7 has been handcrafting cycling shoes in the USA with the finest materials available. Being passionate cyclists ourselves, our mission at Rocket7 is to provide cyclists around the world with premium cycling footwear, offering optimum fit, performance, and comfort.
Rocket7 is one of the few custom shoe makers capable of building orthotics from a prescription. Our certified pedorthist (CPED) is trained to achieve maximum performance with custom footwear. Rocket7 understands the unique demands cyclists place upon their feet, and is committed to working with athletes of all levels who desire both improved performance and biomechanical alignment from their footwear.
What makes Rocket7 cycling shoes so special? First, we continue to build carbon soles in our small shop in Puyallup, WA which allows us to produce a shoe for your specific needs. This may include "canting" the carbon cleat platform to addres biomachincal needs, or perhaps moving the cleat back to "mid arch" to help reduce pressure on a neuroma (ie. burning met-heads). We can even build a Speedplay specific platform, or compensate for a leg length discrepency by raising the cleat platform on one of the shoes. Our proprietary resin also makes a difference. It's expensive, but we believe it just "feels" better than the cheap "plastic resins" found in so many cycling shoes today.
Our integrated footbeds also make a difference. When your feet are in pain, or simply not comfortable, fatigue sets in sooner and energy is lost. A properly designed footbed will also relieve pressure on the met-heads, and will allow you to generate more power with less effort. There are few (if any) cycling specific orthotics on the market these days. Rocket7 footbeds are designed specifically for cycling, with the proper heel raise and a low-profile design to minimize shoe volume requirements.
We take pride in every pair of shoes we build. In fact, each shoe and orthotic leaving our shop is assigned a unique serial number by our master craftsmen. Every pair of custom shoes is built precisely to your specifications by an expert who has a passion for fine craftsmanship.
Your investment in a pair of Rocket7 shoes and orthotics not only reflects your love of cycling, but also your desire to ride the finest equipment available. Whether you are looking for comfort at the end of a century ride, or maximum acceleration in your local criterium race, Rocket7 provides you with the kind of performance that only a technologically advanced handcrafted footwear can offer.
