| REGULAR LINKS Sort by: PageRank | Hits| Alphabetical | The Bicycle Kitchen The Bicycle Kitchen is a non profit educational organization. We are a group of volunteers who run a space in Los Angeles filled with tools and stands for working on bicycles. Our hope is that you will come down and work on your bike! We will help you. We ask $7 per hour DONATION, (no one is turned away for lack of funds). We have almost every tool you could need and every shift at least one of us will be able to answer whatever question you may have...(hopefully).
In Addition to tools we have tons of old donated bike parts and some semi-complete bikes, every now and then we get a fully operational bike.
We Are NOT a Bike Store: We do not sell bikes, nor do we fix bikes for you. What we do is teach people to work on their own bikes. Many people already know how to work on bikes, that's fine too, we're here if you need us but we'll leave you alone if you don't... unless you'd just like to like to chat.
Official Mission Statement: Our mission is to promote the bicycle as a fun, safe, and accessible form of transportation, to foster healthy urban communities, and to provide a welcoming space to learn about building maintaining, and riding bicycles.

| | Maya Pedal About Us:
We are a non-governmental organization located in San Andrés Itzapa, Chimaltenango, Guatemala. We started in 1997, working with a group of Canadians from the organization PEDAL. Following a vision for sustainable development in Guatemala, we became constituted under local control as Asociación Maya Pedal in 2001. We recycle used bicycles to build pedal-powered machines, bicimáquinas, which support and help facilitate the work of small-scale, self-sustainable projects. Through this work we hope to contribute to the conservation of the environment, the health or the Guatemalan people, and the productivity of the local economy.
Mission and Vision
To support the basic family economy, through the design and distribution of bicycle machines, providing an efficient alternative for the rural development of Guatemala.
To be a non-governmental organization that promotes the use of bicycle machines through programs, projects, partnerships, activities, and actions, also promoting the use of alternative transportion using bicycles and tricycles
Objectives
- To recycle and reuse bicycles.
- To design and produce pedal-powered machines that meet the necessities of communities.
- To raise consciousness, to educate, and to inform communities about the use of pedal-powered technology as an element of ecological sustainability.
- To produce, promote, and commercialize bicycle machines and the products made with them, with the ultimate purpose of being a self-sustainable organization, and to help associated groups also achieve this goal.
- To establish alliances with national and international groups that have similar goals and that have the capacity to transfer pedal-powered technology to other areas of the world.
- To distribute pedal-powered machines for use in peasant agriculture, domestic work, and small business.
- To contribute to the local economy, to improve productivity, health, and the surrounding environments of rural families.
- To share the experiences of the organization through community-based environmental education, and print articles about the benefits of pedal-powered technology.
- To develop technology that does not rely on energy sources such as electricity, fossil fuels, or on agro-industrial techniques.
- And to conserve our environment.

| | BikeRoWave Philosophy.
This section states the key elements of Bikerowave’s purpose: it’s mission, philosophical approach to organization governance, inclusiveness, and not-for profit stance.
Mission Statement.
Bikerowave’s mission statement, approved by unanimous vote at a meeting of the Bikerowave volunteers:
Bikerowave’s primary mission is to empower the cycling public by providing affordable hands-on education about bicycle repair and maintenance. We aim to provide the space and tools necessary to assist cyclists in repairing and maintaining their own bicycles. We also seek to serve as a community center for Westside cyclists by providing a venue for gatherings and events. We are a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization that strives to be eco-friendly in all aspects of its operation. We believe the success of our mission will lead to a safer, stronger, larger and more vital Westside cycling community.

| | The Bicycle Tree A new kind of bicycle facility is coming to Orange County – one that incorporates bicycle education, bicycle recycling, and do-it-yourself repair. We will offer programs and services for youth and adults at affordable prices. Bringing together the excitement and accessibility of cycling, the fulfillment of conservation, and the rewards of education, The Bicycle Tree will be a unique, empowering resource for people who ride bicycles.
Bicycle Repair Education
We will offer complete bicycle repair courses for youth and adults. Classes will be hands-on and interactive. Youth classes will take the form of an Earn-A-Bike program, whereby participants are able to select, revive, and take home a donated bike after course completion. We intend our classes to not only improve participants’ mechanical proficiency, but to boost confidence and discuss concepts of conservation and waste.
Bicycle Recycling Facility
We will collect donations of used bicycles and parts and put to use. Some bicycles will be refurbished and sold in our shop, or donated to people that need them. Some bikes will be sold "as is", while the least hopeful will have their parts harvested before being recycled as scrap. Used parts will be organized to be used some more, while limited new parts will be available as a last resort. The philosophy of the Bicycle Tree will be to give bikes the full life they were meant to have.
Do-It-Yourself Bicycle Repair
The Bicycle Tree will provide the opportunity for visitors to fix their bicycle themselves using the facility’s tools and the assistance of knowledgeable staff for a small suggested hourly donation. A person that gets to know their bike is more likely to trust, ride, and take care of their bike.

| | The Bike Shed What do we do.
The BikeShed is a volunteer on-site group at CERES in Melbourne. Our aim is to promote cycling in the local community by teaching people how to fix their own bikes. Membership of the BikeShed is $10 per year, or $5 for students and concession card holders.
BikeShed members can use our tools on-site and get free training from our volunteer mechanics.
If you do not have a bicycle, we will happily help you to fix one of our recycled bicycles.
We have a range of recycled parts available to members at very low prices. If we do not have the parts you need, we will happily direct you to a local bike shop.
What we do not do.
We are not a bike shop. We cannot fix your bike for you. We do not make bicycles frames or bicycle trailers. Major frame repairs and welding equipment are not available. Tools are never for loan. They must be used on site. Even though the bike shed cannot offer these services, our volunteers may be able to point you towards someone who can.
