About Bikes At Work
Our company, which was originally called Fresh Aire Delivery Service, began in 1991 as a grocery delivery service which used a small bicycle trailer to deliver groceries to others in our community. As our business grew and we took on other types of delivery services, we soon found ourselves carrying loads that were beyond the capacity of any bicycle trailer on the market. To satisfy our needs, we began building our own trailers. Other people with similar needs began inquiring about our trailers, so we started a second company called Fresh Aire Trailer Works to fulfill the cargo-carrying needs of others. To avoid confusion, we eventually combined the two companies into one, Bikes At Work Inc.
Today, Bikes At Work manufactures a broad line of utilitarian human-powered transportation products including heavy-duty cargo bicycle trailers and custom cargo bikes while continuing to provide a mix of human-powered services to our community. This mix of products and services allows us both to test, refine, and develop our equipment while providing a positive example of what can be done using human power alone.

Building trailers by hand-usually one at a time has real advantages in product improvement and quality- because ongoing research and feedback can be incorporated seamlessly into an improved version -whether it reduces production costs, improved performance, increases versatility or adds to any of the attributes that go towards keeping our trailers at the leading edge.
